Overview
The E32 is the second generation of the BMW 7 Series, produced from June 1986 to April 1994. Designed by Ercole Spada and Hans Kerschbaum under design director Claus Luthe, it succeeded the E23 and introduced a new level of technological sophistication to the luxury saloon segment. The E32 was the first BMW to feature L-shaped tail-lights, projector lens headlamps (1986), double-glazed windows (1991), and xenon headlamps (1991).
The engine line‑up was equally groundbreaking: the M30 straight-six was joined by BMW's first post-war V12 — the M70 — in 1987, and by BMW's first V8 since 1962 — the M60 — in 1992. The E32 was replaced by the E38 in 1994.
