We are an independent editorial resource, not a garage. We help BMW owners understand engine failures, repair costs, and whether to repair or replace — and connect them with a vetted network of 20+ UK specialists through our partner, EnginesMarket.

We exist to give you the confidence to make a difficult decision — and the tools to act on it.

Editorial Standards

We are an independent editorial publication focused solely on BMW engine ownership. Our content is written by experienced automotive journalists and reviewed by independent BMW specialists. We do not accept payment for positive coverage, and we do not allow sponsors to influence our verdicts. Every page on this site is built to answer one question: "What should a BMW owner do next?" — and we answer it with data, not opinion.

Our editorial team has decades of combined experience in automotive journalism and BMW technical writing. We do not name AI tools in our content, and we never fabricate individual customer stories. Every piece of advice on this site is grounded in real data from our proprietary enquiry database.

For full details, see our Editorial Standards page.

Data Verification

Every number on this site carries a data tag. We do not publish estimates as facts. Our primary data sources are:

No number on this site is invented. If a figure cannot be sourced, it is marked [PLACEHOLDER] and does not go live. Full methodology is available on our Data Methodology page.

How We Vet Specialists

Our network of 20+ vetted BMW specialists (the figure used across all site pages) is not a marketing number. Every specialist in our network has passed the following checks:

  1. Trade body registration: Must hold current membership with IMI, VMA, or equivalent.
  2. BMW‑specific training: Evidence of BMW factory training or equivalent independent accreditation.
  3. Warranty offer: Minimum 12‑month parts and labour warranty on all reconditioned engine supplies.
  4. Customer feedback: Positive independent review history across at least three public platforms.
  5. Workshop inspection: Physical site visit by our editorial team (or a trusted partner) within the last 18 months.

Specialists who fail any of these checks are not listed. We re‑verify annually. Full details are on our Specialist Vetting page.

Warranty Standards

Every reconditioned and rebuilt engine supplied through our partner network comes with a minimum 12‑month parts and labour warranty. This is non‑negotiable. In practice, the majority of our vetted specialists offer 24‑month warranties on their work.

Used engines are offered on a shorter warranty basis (typically 30‑90 days) and are clearly marked as such. We do not recommend used engines for catastrophic failure modes where debris contamination is a risk. Full warranty terms are available on each specialist's profile page and on our Warranty Standards page.

Corrections Log

We take accuracy seriously. If you believe you have found an error on this site, please contact us. We review every correction request within 5 working days and update the site accordingly.

A public log of all substantive corrections is maintained on our Corrections Log page. Minor typographical fixes are not logged; any correction that affects a data claim, a cost figure, or a repair verdict is recorded with the date and the nature of the change.

No. We are completely independent. We have no affiliation with Bayerische Motoren Werke AG, BMW UK, or any BMW dealership network.
